PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
