Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
